Job Description

Job Title:             Bench Joiner and Carpenter

Band:                    Skilled

Department:      Interior

Role Objective:

Utilising a skilled knowledge of operations throughout the factory including the techniques and terminology used in the operation of tools and equipment, working under own initiative from drawings to full fabrication and production manufacture of high quality products.

Brief Description of Duties:

  • Bench Joinery
  • General Carpentry
  • Reading complex drawings to build prototypes unaided
  • Safe operation of all pieces of equipment within the factory following documented procedures to produce goods in line with company and customer requirements
  • Achieve and maintain required production targets and quality standards through strict adherence to documented processes and high-level of workmanship
  • Maintain and communicate a safe working environment for you and others, ensuring that all company and regulatory standards are achieved at all times and taking appropriate measures such as coning off areas and using suitable signage where necessary
  • Achieve and maintain required Quality Standards through strict adherence to documented processes and high level of workmanship using fit-for-purpose equipment
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through the identification, reporting and resolution of Non-Conformance
  • Communicating with Factory Manager to highlight issues etc.
  • Any Other reasonable requests as required by management


Key Skills:

  • Experienced machine operator and/or programmer with relevant experience and good mechanical ability
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment is essential and with a background in carpentry/joinery and general woodworking knowledge
  • A good working knowledge of PPE requirements
  • A good knowledge of Health and Safety within a production environment
  • Good housekeeping practices

Personal Attributes:

  • Physically fit and capable of standing for long periods and with good observation skills
  • Good verbal communication skills and an ability to follow verbal instruction
  • Manual dexterity with speed, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work alone and under pressure
  • Ability to oversee the work of less experienced staff
